Bogus Basin Challenge
In these pandemic times, this challenge will be done on your own. There is no organized support, no pre-party, no after party, and currently no awards. Bogus Basin is our local ski area here in Boise. The Bogus Basin Challenge is designed with our local ski area in mind but realistically, the format could be adapted to your local mountain too.
Objective: ski every run at Bogus Basin in a single day
We are using the term "ski" to mean "descend the run by any means you want", as long as it's allowed. So you can ski, board, ride, whatever you want to call it.
There are conflicting accounts of just how may runs Bogus has. For this challenge, that number is 77 (listed below). This includes all the named runs from Bogus's map (here) that we've deemed to be real runs - we discarded simple cat tracks or little connectors that really just join two real runs.
That's it! Ski all 77 runs in a single day. You can connect them however you want, but you must ski the entire run: skiing diagonally across Triumph, Night Hawk, and Bonanza counts as 0 runs, not 3. You can however get multiple runs in one trip down the mountain if they connect end to end, like Upper Ridge to Sourdough to Stewart's Bowl. The most efficient we have seen is skiing all 77 runs in 52 trips down the mountain. So planning your route is important - and remember to factor in how to get those runs that are going to require 2 chairs to get to. Have fun and good luck!
